ANOTHER DAY - ANOTHER OPPORTUNITY TO FISH
Good sign, must be fish in here somewhere.
The next morning, we arrived at the river just as the sun was rising. It had been a while since I’d seen this time of day, but after no luck at sunset, we figured maybe sunrise was when the fish decided to bite.
Standing there, we had a decision to make, listen to our loudly grumbling stomachs, satisfy the desperate need for coffee, or focus entirely on catching a fish. None felt optional.
Turns out, we’d left the coffee back in the room. Not a great start.
A few hours on the river later and still nothing. Not a single bite. A local fisherman later told us that during a heatwave the fish tend to disappear. I’m not entirely convinced that’s true… it’s also very possible they were just simply avoiding Jason’s fly.
Either way, standing in the cool morning air, river flowing quietly past, it was still worth it. Sometimes being out in nature is enough, even when the fish don’t cooperate.
